Join Dr. Bonnie Glencross, Emeritus Associate Professor, Department of Archaeology and Heritage Studies, Wilfrid Laurier University.
The Bioarchaeology of Ancient Children: Join us for a discussion of current bioarchaeological investigations exploring childhood in the past. Historically underrepresented in archaeological research, the juvenile cohort provides direct evidence of childcare and childhood behaviour by situating the biological results within mortuary, textual, and archaeological contexts. This review highlights demographic health, disease, and dietary data from specific locations and periods revealing information about the social and ecological environment in which children lived millennia ago.
