Join us for a workshop led by Ingrid Brand of Narrative 4 that will change the way you view others in your community and broaden your horizons.

Have you experienced "culture shock" or a "defining moment" in your life? A moment that changed the way you saw yourself or the world you live in? Would you like to share yours and learn from the defining moments of another?

Narrative 4 invites newcomers and long-term residents to walk in each others’ shoes through a guided story exchange that builds understanding, empathy and kinder, more connected communities. 

Objectives:

• Bring together and build connections among different community members
• Diminish barriers between participants, specifically newcomers in Guelph-Wellington
• Dismantle stereotypes, biases, preconceptions and misconceptions and judgements 
• Initiate a dialogue between community members in the absence of stereotypes and socially constructed barriers. Learn the importance of the cultural, historic and personal values of oral storytelling
• Bridge this gap of experience between participants and create mutual mentoring, an informed mutual respect and friendship

About Ingrid Brand:

Ingrid Brand brings over 20 years of experience in the for-profit, non-profit and educational sectors. She has held leadership positions at universities in Kuwait, Jordan and Egypt and she has taught at the university level in Canada.

Currently, Ingrid is the Principal Consultant at Brand Intercultural and she is an Associate at a leading, highly innovative Diversity and Inclusion firm in Canada. Ingrid holds a Doctorate in Organizational Leadership Policy and Development. Her doctoral research focuses on advancing intercultural capacity – at the individual, group or organizational level. The thread that weaves throughout Ingrid’s professional experience is her commitment to fostering connections across difference, cultivating empathy and compassionate curiosity, fostering a growth mindset and igniting the brilliance within diverse communities.

• Keep your hands clean. Hand sanitizer will be provided and should be used upon entry to this program.
