Join us virtually or in-person, while we will explore ways to make internet access, digital devices, and digital skill-building opportunities accessible in Guelph. For adults. Please register.
Everyone should have the opportunity to participate in society using digital tools, no matter where they live or what background and skills they possess.
Join Shayla Spalding, a researcher of Capacity Development and Extension and a member of the Guelph Wellington Digital Equity Coalition, as she shares what she learned while studying Guelph's digital divide. Shayla's study used mapping and 3D modelling to identify barriers Guelph residents may face when accessing the internet, specifically in Guelph’s Onward Willow Neighbourhood. In this session, we will explore ways to make internet access, digital devices, and skill-building opportunities accessible in Guelph’s Onward Willow Neighbourhood and beyond.
Digital equity requires everyone from all levels of society to work together, in partnership, to improve digital access through advocacy, access to devices and networks, and digital skill building. We welcome community members and all service providers, not-for profits, for-profits and community groups to attend this session, in-person or online, to learn how we can create new pathways to digital access.
This is a Welcoming Week event!
Welcoming Week is a yearly event celebrated around the world. It’s a chance for us to celebrate diversity, support inclusion, and come together as neighbours and friends. It also helps build stronger communities by bringing people together through local events and activities, so everyone can feel a sense of connection and belonging. Guelph Wellington Welcoming Week 2025 is a collaborative event, organized by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) and the Guelph-Wellington Local Immigration Partnership (GWLIP).
