Join us at the Main Library for a fun, engaging yoga class with Busy Minds Education.
Practicing yoga is important for kids for many of the same reasons it is important for adults. Yoga helps to relax, relieve stress and anxiety, sleep better, improve emotional regulation, increase empathy, and improve mood and affect. Practicing yoga with kids also teaches them how to be more mindful, which happens to be just one of the many ways in which we can teach mindfulness to kids.
For children in this age group, stress is something they are only just learning about, and they often don’t know what it is or how to handle it. It is up to us to provide them with effective and appropriate tools to help them manage their emotions.
Other benefits of yoga for this age group (and any age for that matter) includes the following and is not limited to: Improving memory and cognitive function, improving sleep, strength and breathing, and improving self-regulation, determination and perseverance.
