Join us for a virtual recorded Storytime to commemorate the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation to remember the victims of the Canadian residential school system. All ages. Please Register.

Orange Shirt Day (September 30) is a day when we honor the Indigenous children who were sent away to residential schools in Canada. Join us for a virtual story time as we read "The Orange Shirt story" by Phyllis Webstad, which is based around her real life experiences as a residential school survivor. She tells the story of a young Phyllis, whose grandmother had bought her a new orange shirt for her first day at St. Joseph's Mission residential school. When Phyllis got to school, they took away her clothes, including her new shirt. It was never returned.

By listening to the stories and experiences of Indigenous people, we can further honour and bring awareness to the victims and survivors of Residential schools and the importance of reflecting on that part of our country's history.
