Enjoy a thought-provoking online lecture and discussion based on Stratford Festival's King Lear play. Presented by Dr. Mark Fortier, University of Guelph. Adults. Please register.
All of Shakespeare’s plays have recurring moments in which, for whatever reasons, they reemerge into particular relevance at a moment in history. King Lear in the twentieth century suddenly resonated with end of the world scenarios and existential emptiness. What about now, with its focus on the elderly and originally written and performed in a time of plague? Is King Lear uniquely relevant for our moment in history?
This online lecture is presented in partnership with the Stratford Festival.
