Have you been wanting to learn more about your family history? Interested in starting to build your family tree but don't know where to start? Have you started to research your tree but hit a brick wall and aren’t sure how to break through it?

This session offers a comprehensive introduction for family historians. It focuses on tracing your family through civil registrations, census records, parish and church records, and poor law and relief records. Participants will learn to locate historical maps, understand emigration patterns, and utilize old newspapers for valuable insights. This workshop will also explore wills, testaments, and military records, providing a deeper understanding of ancestors' lives and contributions. By the end, participants will have the skills and tools to uncover and document their Scottish roots.

By participating in this program, you acknowledge that you accept and agree to Guelph Public Library's Code of Conduct.
