Begin your journey to discover your family's history! The program consists of three 3-hour sessions. REGISTER for each session. February 9 - Learn the differences between genealogy and family history. Participants will learn where to begin, how to establish research goals, what to look for and how to gather information and tips to organize results. Included is a tour of the information and records of interest to family historians available at the library. February 23 – Explore various records which can provide insight into our ancestor’s lives, including civil registration, censuses, parish and cemetery records, wills, maps and more! Tips for your trip to the library or archives will also be discussed. March 9 - Explore online eResources and discover tips for conducting internet searches, using social networking sources and building your own research “toolbox”. An introduction to DNA testing and its use in family history research will also be discussed. This program is offered in partnership with the Wellington Country Branch, Ontario Genealogical Society and the Guelph Public Library.
